The coin (dirham) belongs to the Artuqid ruler of Najm al-din Alpi (r.1154–1176). Obverse is inscribed with Najm al-Din / King of Diyar Bakr and shows facing Portraits of the Seleucid Emperor Antiochus VII, after a silver coin. The reverse is inscribed Abu al Muzaffar Alpi bin Timurtash bin il-Ghazi bin Artuq and shows Virgin Mary crowning the Byzantine Emperor Romanos III, after a gold coin.
