Provenance

Joseph David Böhm, Vienna (1794-1865) (Lugt 271, 272, 1442), possibly sold through his sale [Alexandre Posonyu, Vienna, December 4, 1865, lot 1206 as by Brueghel]. [1] Tiroler Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum, Innsbruck (Lugt 5848), sold or exchanged [through Franz Balke, March 8, 1958]. Walter Hugelshofer, Zurich. [Sotheby's, London, July 8, 2004, lot 15, bought in]. John Davidson, Chicago, gift; to Harvard Art Museums, 2024 Notes [1] Lot 1206 includes two drawings by Savery described as "Landschaftsstudien, qu. 8 Zart mit d. Feder." However, according to the 2004 Sotheby's catalogue, two other drawings by Savery were in the collection of Böhm and sold in 1995.
