“Occupying Wall Street, November 3, 2011” Charlie from Arkansas. Charlie was a senior in college, studying philosophy. He came to New York to participate in the protest. He had wanted to study engineering, but because his local state college did not offer that course of study, philosophy was the next best option. In this image he is sitting in front of the tent where he slept, taking a break from the “sanitation working group.” Protesters often joined working groups that supported the protest in a variety of ways, conceptually or physically. The sanitation group cleaned the Park.
