Sketchbook with cream-paper-covered cardboard covers, red- cloth-covered spine; printed in black on front cover: Schetsboek. Pages of off-white wove paper. Sewn page block; pages have rounded corners. Sketchbook is incomplete, with thirty-four pages remaining; drawing on tracing paper affixed to folio 14. Thirty drawings.The pages are numbered in red-brown ink in the upper right corner. Several pages are missing and the page numbering apparently occurred after their removal; one page after page 18 may have been removed, and three pages after page 34. Contents: Goats and cattle, landscape, portrait of Benjamin Franklin, "Atlas and Moderation" (sculpture atop pediment of Royal Palace, formerly Town Hall, Amsterdam); miscellaneous studies.
