The Harvard Art Museum owns a number of drawings by Sargent relating to this theme, including 1937.8.2, 1937.8.12 (pen and wash sketches of dancer with seated figures), and 1937.8.22, a version of the figure at the left of this composition. The finished painting is at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston.
