19th century
The fragmentary painting features a garden with a large pink and white pavilion at the center. The pavilion and the sword-wielding attendant are rendered in a frontal view, with one-point perspective. The garden has been divided into two, “L”-shaped sections. The large sections are depicted in aerial view to show the patterns created by planted and potted flowers and plants. The top of the painting appears to be missing.
